Dr. Michelle Hawkins Wins T.J. Lafeber Avian Practitioner of the Year Award
Dr. Michelle Hawkins was recently awarded the 2023 T.J. Lafeber Avian Practitioner of the Year Award, presented to an outstanding practitioner who is advancing the quality of health care for companion birds. Award recipients are selected by an independent committee of members from the Association of Avian Veterinarians.
Important criteria for this award include clinical excellence, innovation, promotion of the profession, contributions to the knowledge base, and caring and compassion to their avian patients and clients. Dr. Hawkins is a professor in the UC Davis veterinary hospital's Companion Exotic Animal Medicine and Surgery Service and also director of the California Raptor Center.
