Event Date
Ever wanted to learn more about dog breeds and how genetics plays a role in their health? Join the Canine Medicine Club (CMC) for a lunch talk with Dr. Danika Bannasch, a professor here at UCD SVM, as she shares insights into veterinary opportunities with the American Kennel Club (AKC)!
Dr. Bannasch's research has led to the discovery of genetic mutations responsible for hereditary diseases in dogs and the development of widely used genetic screening tests. She's also created two new breeds of dogs Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, and, just this year, the Danish-Swedish Farmdog! In her talk, Dr. Bannasch will discuss all things AKC and the history of purpose bred dogs, the different sports and events that AKC governs, all of the different departments at AKC, and how AKC supports veterinarians.
