The Masters of Preventive Veterinary Medicine (MPVM) program is a vital part of the School of Veterinary Medicine, supporting students to become leading professionals in critical assessment and application of epidemiological and quantitative methods for solving animal, human, and ecological population health challenges. The program prepares veterinarians and physicians to address animal, human, and ecological problems and to design and evaluate disease control or other health programs.

Thanks to Dale Moore and Bill Sischo, this program is now more accessible to students seeking the degree. They have created the Dale Moore and Bill Sischo MPVM Scholarship, a life-changing award that gives two students a full tuition scholarship. Their generous philanthropy is inspired by their dedication to this important field, and ensures the research and discoveries from population health studies will continue to impact the human and animal world for years to come.

Dale and Bill created a scholarship fund known as the Dale Moore and Bill Sischo MPVM Scholarship. The fund annually supports two students: one is a dual degree Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and Master of Preventive Veterinary Medicine (MPVM) student. The other supports a graduate DVM student accepted into the MPVM program. Dale and Bill are the first donors to create a full scholarship for two MPVM students to pursue their degrees.

Dale and Bill are both UC Davis undergraduate and graduate alumni, and both received their DVM from the School of Veterinary Medicine. They met when they were at the school, and both have been dedicated to their careers in advancing veterinary health.

Dale and Bill underscored the importance of the MPVM degree, writing:

This field has been our own life’s work, and it is important for the work to continue. By contributing to a scholarship that will ensure MPVM students do not need to seek additional sources of income while pursuing their degrees, the financial burden is lifted, and they can focus on their studies, and their future work.”
