White Coat Ceremony

Sponsor a White Coat

The White Coat Ceremony is a long standing tradition at UC Davis School of Vet Med in which students are welcomed into the veterinary profession. The white coat is seen as the symbol of clinical service and care. Our students uniquely hit the ground running and gain these clinical skills in their first year. Therefore, first year students take the School of Veterinary Medicine student oath, receive their white coat, and are inducted into the school by the Dean in this ceremony that begins their professional education.

New this year, become a White Coat Sponsor! White Coat sponsors are especially rewarding because of the impact it can make on incoming students and their journey towards becoming veterinarians. Sponsor donations provide support to purchase individual White Coats for students, as well as help offset the costs involved with hosting the ceremony and reception to celebrate the students' achievements. Please consider making the gift of a White Coat Sponsorship using the link below.

White Coat Ceremony (Aug 2017)

As you reflect on your time as a student, we welcome you to continue an alumni tradition of sharing words of encouragement, advice, or wisdom with this year's incoming students, the Class of 2028.

Your words will be handwritten on a card that will be placed in the pockets of the white coats the incoming students receive at the annual White Coat Ceremony.
