Pet Loss For Seniors
Coping with the loss of a pet can be especially hard for seniors. Those who live alone may feel a loss of purpose and an immense emptiness. Their pet’s death may also trigger painful memories of other loses. For these reasons, it is critical that senior pet owners take steps to cope with their loss by interacting with family and friends, contacting a pet loss support group, or volunteering at a local humane society or shelter. Our Hospital Wellness Service can help guide seniors through the difficult grieving process.
