75th Anniversary Gala Celebrates Milestone with Support for Future Veterinary Leaders

Olympic champion Brian Boitano (with his dog Hunter) will serve as the Master of Ceremonies at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine's 75th Anniversary Gala.

The UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine will close its 75th anniversary year with a gala on June 29, 2024, at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium. With a Western theme that guests can hang their hats and spurs on, the gala will raise funds for scholarships, nurturing the next generation of veterinary leaders.

Olympic champion figure skater and animal owner Brian Boitano will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the event.

“I am honored to be part of this momentous 75th Anniversary Gala for the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine,” said Boitano. “It’s going to be a spectacular event. My partner Franc and I are grateful for the treatment our dog Hunter has received at the school. By supporting scholarships, all of us are investing in the future of animal health.”

Attendees will be treated to a mesmerizing performance by the Sacramento Contemporary Dance Theatre, renowned for their innovative and emotionally charged dance routines. Attendees will have their own opportunity to hit the dance floor, and will experience an exceptional culinary experience, with gourmet cocktails, a delectable dinner, and mouthwatering desserts designed to delight the senses. The gala will also feature live and silent auctions, offering an array of art pieces, items, and experiences.

Boitano and partner Franc D’Ambrosio are donating a dinner and a personal concert by D’Ambrosio to the event’s auction. As the star of San Francisco’s production of The Phantom of the Opera for five years, D’Ambrosio is known as “The Iron Man of the Mask.” The auction dinner will be held at their San Francisco home.  

“As we celebrate 75 years of excellence in veterinary education, research, and service, this gala brings together people who are dedicated to advancing animal health,” said Dr. Mark Stetter, dean of the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. “Together, we can ensure our students have the resources they need to become the compassionate and skilled veterinarians and scientists of tomorrow.”

Cocktails will start at 6 p.m. with dinner and the program beginning at 7p.m.

Tickets to the gala cost $750, of which $600 is tax deductible. Sponsorships are also available. All proceeds benefit scholarships for students at the School of Veterinary Medicine.
