Dr. Stephen White has been named the 2020 recipient of the Frank Kral Award presented by the American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology. The award is given annually in recognition of outstanding achievements and dedicated service to the veterinary profession and the specialty of veterinary dermatology.

Three members of the California Animal Health & Food Safety (CAHFS) lab team received awards at the recent virtual meeting of the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians/United States Animal Health Association. Dean Michael Lairmore welcomed new individuals to the school’s community during the annual Fall Faculty Reception on October 22 (held virtually this year) and acknowledged those in outgoing and incoming leadership roles. The school also honored faculty members with awards for excellence in teaching and research, along with others honored for their service.
Dr. Pamela Lein, a professor in the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine’s department of Molecular Biosciences, was one of 34 faculty members honored by UC Davis Graduate Studies with a Graduate Program Advising and Mentoring Award.
UC Davis Graduate Studies recently honored 34 faculty members with Graduate Program Advising and Mentoring Awards, including Dr. Jeffrey Stott, a professor in the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine’s Department of Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology, and member of the Graduate Group in Integrative Pathobiology.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, many veterinary conferences have turned to virtual versions to share best practices, earn continuing education credits, and recognize colleagues for their achievements. At this year’s virtual 2020 American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine annual conference, two UC Davis residents earned research awards. Cardiology resident Dr. Ashley Sharpe and livestock medicine resident Dr. Suzanne Clergue both won the Research Poster Presentation Award.
Drs. Jannah Pye and Tom Cullen, equine surgery residents at the UC Davis veterinary hospital, were recently awarded the Mark S. Bloomberg Memorial Resident Research Award by the Veterinary Orthopedic Society (VOS). The two were among a handful of residents throughout the country award the prize. They were recognized in February at the VOS Annual Conference in Sun Valley, Idaho, before the COVID-19 pandemic caused all veterinary conferences to cease in-person activities.
Behavior resident Dr. Sun Kim was recently selected as the recipient of the 2020 American College of Veterinary Behaviorists (ACVB) R.K. Anderson Resident Award. The recognition is given annually for outstanding research by veterinarians in ACVB residencies, such as UC Davis’ three-year advanced training program.
Congratulations to the Class of 2020! During the midst of a global pandemic, the UC Davis veterinary medicine community held a virtual 69th Commencement Ceremony on May 22nd to honor 147 DVM graduates.
